Resist
Never before after World War II has there been a country or a leader in the Western civilisation that made people feel like they are right now. Outrage, anger, dispair, disbelief, you name it.
President Trump has, within his first week, made it all 'possible'. He has given each and everyone of us an uneasy and unsafe feeling. The world is changing, has changed. Espacially since the Muslim ban. When people couldn't even get off the planes and there was chaos and despair.
It all started with the Women's March the day after the Inaugeration. All over the world women (and men ) were protesting against his presidency. He didn't win, Hillary had 3 million more votes, so why on Earth is he now president! He is a narcissist, a white surpremacist, a fascist, need I go on?
All his actions from the last week speak for themselves.
Angela Merkel, the German prime minister (who now is the leader of the Free West to be honest) was the one who had to remind mr Trump of the Geneva convention. She had to call him and tell him.
Trump, having once said he didn't read, doesn't know about the Geneva Convention?
He has forbidden scientist to publish their findings, or to communicate on Social Media, which provoked protests and rogue accounts.
He still wants to build his stupid wall to keep the Mexicans out and let Mexico pay for it (which they won't) He has whiped away women's rights in one sweep. Planned parenting, abortion, everything America has built through the years is being whiped clean even the websites of the Government.
Trump doesn't believe in Climate change, it's a hoax, so whipe away all data so it doesn't exits anymore.
There once was a country in 1938 where a leader stood up. People started to like him, what he said. he blamed minorities, Jews, gypsies... He didn't talk but screamed his words to get his point across.
He was elected and then the Second World War started.
Millions of Jews, Gypsies and homosexuals were killed.
Later some Germans said; 'Ich habe es nicht gewußt!' (I did not know)
But did they? Or did they just turn away, didn't they just want to know?
What we're seeing now in America is that people are resisting, are protesting, they don't want this, they don't want to be ruled by a demagogue and a tirant.
They don't want history to repeat itself only this time it's not Jews, it's Muslims.
Let's all resist, in every country. Don't let the Nazis win again. It doesn't matter where you live or if they call themselves 'alt-right' they are Nazis, plain and simple and we won't stand for it. We won't stay silent!
Resist!

The Silent Majority
In every country there is a silent majority. The loud minority speaks up more it seems or they get more attention. Maybe loudness sells more newspapers. You see it in America with Trump, or in our country with the refugees who are being placed in asylum centres too big for most towns.
There is a saying in Dutch 'Onbekend maakt onbemind' Unknown makes unloved. What we don't know scares us. The loud minority screams at the announcement of another asylum centre that the refugees are terrorists, that the men are going to rape all the women and more of these unfound accusations. People follow other people in fear not thinking straight anymore. Fear does strange things to people; they are throwing illegal firework bombs at the police to make their point across. Who's the terrorist now?
People protesting with violence against the police last week
I really feel ashamed sometimes when I see people reacting the way they do about refugees. No they are not here to take our jobs away. Yes of course they have a phone why shouldn't they have one? They came from a very rich country after all which they did not want to leave but where forced to! What would you take if you were forced to leave? You're phone for one thing right? I would!
Everytime those screaming, protesting people are in the news they say everyone is against refugees coming to live here. Everyone; so even the silent majority. They didn't ask me if I were against it.
They didn't ask the silent majority who thinks we should help them.
Maybe it is time to stop being silent. Maybe it is time we took a step forward and spoke up; You are not screaming for me, You are not speaking for me! Leave those people alone! They've been through enough! It's one world we all share, we should start to learn to live together and help whoever needs helping!

Refugees; No human is illegal
Everywhere you look; tv or social media, you read/see about the refugees and their fate.
But what strikes me more and more is the way people are talking about other people. The way my country is handling this worldwide problem. Or not handling it to be honest. The way some are talking is shameful to say the least.
The Netherlands has always been known for its tolerance but over the years we have become the least tolerant country in Europe I think.
It's shocking how some people are talking about the boat refugees. What they are saying I shall not repeat but it's horrible and inhumane. Yes, cruel even. You are not worth to be calling yourself part of the human race if you talk about other humans like that. Even animals treat each other better.

A lot of refugees don't run from their country because of economical reasons; sure there always will be some that do and the media is always putting it's focus on them, but most of them flee from their country because they simply have to. Because of Al Quada, ISIS or other extremist groups. They don't have a choice. If they would, they would simply stay.
They would not leave their belongings and pick up only a few things and their entire family, if even that, and make the hard and often dangerous journey to freedom from persecution. Most people scream bloody murder that 'the Muslims are taking over' but it's just nonsense. A lot of them are fleeing because they are Christians and can't be who they want to be in their own country, or for their sexual orientation. Let's face it; who would dare take an overcrowded ship with the risk of sinking in the middle of the ocean with small children if they didn't have too?

The reactions are also often out of ignorance but even then; did they all really forget what happened in WOII? When lots of people were persecuted for being 'the wrong race' or being different?
We are all equal; we are all human.
Slogan from Germany
Better the world, start with yourself and the way you talk about other human beings. You can't judge unless you have walked in their shoes and I don't think you would want that...
For this blog I needed pics and saw the most horrid photos of cut off heads done by those extremists... I didn't put them on here but those pics might have made an impact on those hateful and spiteful commentors.
Helping the refugees is something all of the world should do, not only Greece and Italy where they first land. We all need to take our responsibility. I read that about 207.000 refugees have come to Europe so far; that's 8625 per member state; about 2156 families per country. That's not so much now is it? Can't we all just help those people, like we would want to be helped, like we were helped when we were at war so many years ago?
