Sherlocked and Cumberbatched

For a long time now, ever since episode two I guess, I have a serious condition. After episode three aired it got worse, much worse! I am Sherlocked! Better yet, I have a Benediction;
I am Cumberbatched.

At first I didn't want to admit it. At my age fangirling over a man 9 years younger than me, what was I thinking! I was on Twitter more often than I had been in years and gradually I found more kindred spirits. And to my surprise a lot of them of my own age, some older, some a bit younger but I was not alone in my admiration of Benedict Cumberbatch. It's not just fangirling, it's the man's whole being. The things he does, the things he says, his weird faces even, he just makes us laugh. His akwardness makes us say: See? He is perfect because even he isn't perfect! I know it doesn't make sense what so ever, but to us it does! I make edits everyday now, I write Sherlock fanfiction even. I have a Tumblr account (I already had, but now I use it more frequent) about Benedict and on there I put my edits as well as on Twitter. We can talk all day about that man without even wonder why we do.

He is a wonderful actor, no doubt about that! I myself have some catching up to do on his films but I have watched quite a few already, from Star Trek Into Darkness where he played the villain Khan, or in the Hobbit where he is Smaug with his lovely dark barritoned voice, (mind you: he did the motion capture as well, he won't let anyone forget that!) Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy to his role as a slave owner in 12 years a slave and the Fifth Estate where he portraits Wikileaks' Julian Assange. And of course his absolute wonderful role as BBC's Sherlock!
The man can play anything really you don't even have to be a fan to see that!
Not to mention all the charity work Benedict does and the joy he gives his fans each and every day. The man's a bloody saint but I'm biased. ;)

So yes I will admit it: Hi my name is Kati I'm 46 and I have a serious Benediction or Obsessive Cumberbatch Disorder.

I'm even thinking of going to see him play in Hamlet next year and/or going to go to the European Sherlock convention that will hopefully take place soon. That's what being Cumberbatched means. And not only to meet Ben, because that will be a long wait and only a few minutes, no to meet all the lovely friends I've made on Tumblr and Twitter to whom I speak to every day! Who ever said you can't make friends online is seriously mistaken! You so can!

And people who think the Cumbercollective is a bunch of nasty  Cumberbitches, well just no! First: Please don't use the word 'Cumberbitch' Ben doesn't like it, the majority of the cumbercollective doesn't like it either! We are the Cumbercollective, and we are a very loving one as well. Most of us are anyway. Their are a few who give us a bad name, but that's the case in all fandoms. This one I find is a loving Fandom, it felt to me like a warm bath! Welcoming!
I for one think Benedict would be proud of all of us. We all try to live I think like he does, we think: what would Ben say or do, and what greater compliment can you give your idol.
