Art on Friday; Death and Loss

It's not a popular subject but today is my uncle's funeral and I guess it's my way of dealing with it, coping with it. Writing a poem (yesterday's blog) or making quotes (tomorrow) posting songs (probably Sunday) and today this. It's a grieving process of sorts. So for today's Art on Friday paintings about death and loss.

Herbert Draper-The Lament for Icarus

Dante Gabriel Rossetti-Dante's dream about the death of Beatrice

Jean Broc-The Death of Hyacinthos

John Everett Millais-Ophelia

William-Adolphe Bouguereau-The first Mourning

John William Waterhouse-Gather ye rosebuds while ye may

Gather ye rosebuds while ye may,
Old Time is still a-flying;
And this same flower that smiles today
Tomorrow will be dying.

Robert Herrick
